Preparing every child to become a successful individual in an ever evolving world

On Wednesday 14th January 2015, children in Year 2 attended a ‘Victorian School Day’.

On Wednesday 14th January, children in Year 2 attended a ‘Victorian School Day’. Many of the children came in dressed in the kinds of clothes that pupils would have worn during the Victorian era and had a morning of activities that included handwriting, poetry recital and chanting times tables! In the afternoon, girls and boys were separated and took part in activities to reflect the kinds of things that they might go on to do as adults in the Victorian era, with boys doing technical ship drawing and woodwork while the girls were sewing and cooking! Many of the children were quite shocked at the difference in school life in the past in comparison to today. The day certainly made for a memorable experience and I think most of the children are glad to be coming to school in the 21st Century!
