Preparing every child to become a successful individual in an ever evolving world

This year, our school came together to celebrate International Mother Language Day in a truly special way. Children and staff embraced the occasion by dressing in their beautiful cultural outfits, creating a vibrant and colourful display of the diverse backgrounds that make up our school community. The day was a testament to the importance of language, heritage, and the power of sharing cultures.

In the week leading up to the celebration, we were fortunate to welcome parents into our classrooms to teach the children phrases from their native languages. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn directly from members of our community and gain insight into different languages and traditions. One memorable phrase that stuck with many of the children was "Jashan Mubarak", which means "Happy Celebration" in Urdu—perfect for the joyful occasion!

These sessions were more than just language lessons; they were moments of connection, where children asked questions, learnt about different customs, and gained a deeper appreciation for the rich cultural diversity around them.

International Mother Language Day serves as a reminder of the beauty in our differences and the strength in our unity. Language is more than just communication—it is a reflection of identity, history, and culture. By celebrating our diverse backgrounds, we help foster understanding, respect, and inclusion within our school.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, from the parents who shared their knowledge to the staff and children who embraced the day with enthusiasm. The success of this event highlights the importance of keeping conversations about language and culture alive, not just for one day, but throughout the year.

As we reflect on this celebration, let us continue to learn from one another and take pride in the diverse community we are so lucky to be a part of. Baie dankie! Merci! Gracias! Dhanyavaad! Thank you!
